Book Notes: October 5, 2022 - Contemporary Romance
Welcome back! I'm still not back on track yet and not entirely certain what's thrown me off so badly. But I'm doing my best to get back to my usual Wednesday and Friday posts. I was working on a Friday post and wasn't able to actually finish it, so there will at least be one this Friday. I'm sorry for the topsy-turvy past month. Now...let's get to those book reviews!
Book Review: Second Chance at Redemption Ranch (Redemption Creek Ranch #1) by Macie St. James

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Sweet, Cozy Romance
Just enough problems to solve, just enough of the past to work through, this book was a sweet, cozy romance. I probably won't read it again, but it had several elements I like. It's clean. The story was believable to an appropriate point. The MCs were people I could root for. If you enjoy these kinds of things, maybe give this book a try.

Book Review: It Happened One Hurricane by Carla Rossi

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Short, Well-written Story
I didn't realize this book was only a short story. What snagged my interest was the setting and the hurricane. So I settled in to read thinking the author couldn't possibly pull off a romance during a hurricane that was actually believable. She did, though. It's a sweet, clean, inspirational, romantic, short story. If you're looking for something like that, I'll recommend this story to you.

Both of these were shorter stories, I think, but the second one was more like a novella. Both were easy to read and therefore mostly relaxing, at least for me. I probably won't read them again, but they're definitely good to read at least once.
I've started a new practice which I hope will help me streamline my book review selection process. As many of you may know, Amazon and Goodreads merged a good while ago. They decided more recently to actually merge the book review process, too, so that a book review posted through the Kindle app would post at Goodreads as well. That was working very well.
Then Google decided to make some kind of weird change that required Amazon to remove the feature for buying books through the Kindle app. Not only do I hate that (it's so inconvenient!), it seems to have messed up the review process. I've been having a ton of issues seeing my reviews show up on both the Kindle app and on Goodreads. It's strange, though, because my star rating is showing.
With all this upheaval, a plan is in the works. I'm going through the books I've read this year and noting down the ones I've already posted on the blog. I'm listing them in a separate physical notebook so I can refer to it easily. This way, there won't be another faux pas like the double post back in August. 🙅 And with me planning them in advance, I'll be able to have the time I need to sift through my stack of finished books to find the ones which show the reviews.
There are some I reviewed months ago that still don't show what I wrote about them. I thought they'd eventually show up, but what do I know, right? I'm truly puzzled and annoyed. Anyway, at least now a plan is in place and that makes me feel better about the situation. My hope is to do much better as the days go by.
Thank you all so much for reading and supporting my work. I can't wait to share more of the new short story with you on Friday.
Until then...
