Book Notes: April 12, 2023 - Historical Romance
Welcome, readers and creators! Having good company on the scenic route is always a pleasure. I've got a couple of clean, historical romances to share with you, as well as a three-word prompt for the creatives among us. Just keep reading for the good stuff.
Book Review: Persuasion by Jane Austen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Excellent Story!
I think this is my second favorite of Jane Austen's novels. I love that both these MCs were truly in love with each other, that their love stood the test of separation, time, and opposition. I also like how Anne was always mindful of place and person, and maintained the propriety beautifully. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a well-written, truly beautiful love story.

Book Review: The Masquerade (Legacy of Love #1) by Melanie Dobson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
An Excellent Story
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. The author is new to me. The book had been in my Kindle library for a while. I'm so glad I read it!
The refreshing tale offered the right blend of well-crafted characters, plot, and setting. The touches of faith and romance were handled in a beautiful way. I was pretty quick to invest in these MCs and enjoyed how faith came into their story and played a major role without being preachy.
If you're looking for sweet, clean, historical, inspirational romance, then I recommend this book.

Just Keep Writing: Wednesday Whimsy
If this is your first time participating in this kind of writing exercise, you're in for a treat. If you've done this with me before, just keep scrolling for the prompt.
Rules:
- You can use any/all of the words and/or the photo in the prompt below to create a unique written work. Fiction or nonfiction, poetry or prose, even lyrics are acceptable.
- Please keep the material you write clean (ie. nothing R-rated or worse) if you wish to share the link to your work here, as well as if you link back to my site. I strive to keep my site free of such things. My readers know and expect this. I respect your right to write whatever you feel you need to write. And you're free to use my prompts. But if your material is graphic, I'd rather not view it, and most of my readers will not wish to.
- Have fun! This type of exercise is perfect for growing in the writing craft, or for helping through a rough patch in your current WIP. If you're looking to push your author limits and you normally write in nonfiction prose, try a whimsical collection of lyrics. If you normally write poems about real life events, try your hand at a fanfic. Give yourself some room to explore.
Don't forget to leave a link to your creation (unless you're writing graphic material) so my readers and I can check out your work. I'd appreciate a link back to this post to help me reach more readers, but it's not required.
I'm happy you stopped by today. If you return tomorrow, and I hope you do, there will be a fresh word prompt waiting for you.
Let me know! If you found this post useful, or helpful, or just encouraging, please tell me in the comments below. If you didn't find this post of use, let me know how I can improve my posts in the future. I'd appreciate it so much.
Until next time,
