Author Journey: May 5, 2023 - Too Much To Do
Welcome to the scenic route! Whatever reason brought you, I'm happy you're here. I have some exciting news to share with you, as well as a three-word prompt. I'm jumping right in because there's very little time on my schedule today.
Author Journey: Too Much To Do
I've been at my grandmother's house this past week. She had a bit of a health scare and we're all happy she's recovering now. Please keep her in prayer, as well as our family as we continue to care for her.
While I was visiting with her, my husband let me know I'd gotten my notice back from the Library of Congress. The Tale of Outh'n Durr is now registered at the copyright office. WOOT! I can move on to the actual 'set it free into the public' portion of publishing. I'm both excited and scared.
It's not much like Yetsye's story in Ripples. And it's short, with a somewhat abrupt ending which leaves Outh'n's story open. I'm not sure how readers will receive that. I think it matches the point where his character is in his growth as far as Surge is continued. I need to start promoting it wherever I can, in earnest now. I've been spreading the word here and there. Please do let your friends know it's coming out very soon!
Writer's Life: It's Interesting, Alright
Life is never truly boring. If you think so, maybe you could take a step out into the world and watch what's going on in your area.
On last Sunday, my grandmother had to go into the ER. The initial suspicions were pretty scary, but God is gracious and merciful. Her condition was treatable and she was able to go home. So my mom, youngest daughter, and I traveled to stay with her for a week. It's been a pleasant visit overall. I'm happy we were able to sing for her and improve her spirits a bit.
Having this unexpected trip meant I wasn't able to work much on my writing, but the trade-off was well worth that. I'm going to have to work that much harder to get back into a routine next week.
I'm not sure how Spartacus is doing, other than that he may have scratched his eye. I'd like to ask y'all to be praying for him, that his eye would heal on its own.
Just Keep Writing: Friday Fascicles
If this is your first time participating in this kind of writing exercise, you're in for a treat. If you've done this with me before, just keep scrolling for the prompt.
Rules:
- You can use any/all of the words and/or the photo in the prompt below to create a unique written work. Fiction or nonfiction, poetry or prose, even lyrics are acceptable.
- Please keep the material you write clean (ie. nothing R-rated or worse) if you wish to share the link to your work here, as well as if you link back to my site. I strive to keep my site free of such things. My readers know and expect this. I respect your right to write whatever you feel you need to write. And you're free to use my prompts. But if your material is graphic, I'd rather not view it, and most of my readers will not wish to.
- Have fun! This type of exercise is perfect for growing in the writing craft, or for helping through a rough patch in your current WIP. If you're looking to push your author limits and you normally write in nonfiction prose, try a whimsical collection of lyrics. If you normally write poems about real life events, try your hand at a fanfic. Give yourself some room to explore.
Don't forget to leave a link to your creation (unless you're writing graphic material) so my readers and I can check out your work. I'd appreciate a link back to this post to help me reach more readers, but it's not required.
These could be really fun to work with! I will you well, Creatives!
That's all I have time for today. Maybe next week there will be enough time to edit another of the short stories or write a completely new one. Who knows? I'm going to do my best.
Thanks for joining me on the scenic route today. I hope you'll come back Monday for a new set of words.
Now, I'm going to go get another cup of coffee. How about you?
Until next time,
