Just Keep Writing: August 15, 2023 - Tuesday Tracts

Welcome to the scenic route! The sun is shining. The temps are out-of-sight hot. The ground is dry, dry, dry, and it's kind of interesting how we continue to press on despite the struggle. In my case, my hope rests on a firm foundation which will not be shaken. Do I worry? Yes, but I shouldn't. I have no real reason to let worries shadow my life and steal my joy. I think I'll share the scripture I'm thinking of and the song which keeps playing in my head this morning. Check out the end of the post for both.

Just Keep Writing: Tuesday Tracts

If this is your first time participating in this kind of writing exercise, you're in for a treat. If you've done this with me before, just keep scrolling for the prompt.

Rules:

  1. You can use any/all of the words and/or the photo in the prompt below to create a unique written work. Fiction or nonfiction, poetry or prose, even lyrics are acceptable.
  2. Please keep the material you write clean (i.e. nothing R-rated or worse) if you wish to share the link to your work here, as well as if you link back to my site. I strive to keep my site free of such things. My readers know and expect this. I respect your right to write whatever you feel you need to write. And you're free to use my prompts. But if your material is graphic, I'd rather not view it, and most of my readers will not wish to.
  3. Have fun! This type of exercise is perfect for growing in the writing craft, or for helping through a rough patch in your current WIP. If you're looking to push your author limits and you normally write in nonfiction prose, try a whimsical collection of lyrics. If you normally write poems about real life events, try your hand at a fanfic. Give yourself some room to explore.

Don't forget to leave a link to your creation (unless you're writing graphic material) so my readers and I can check out your work. I'd appreciate a link back to this post to help me reach more readers, but it's not required.

I am loving this set of words. There's a wealth of stories in there, don't you think?

Writer's Challenge! #AbouttheAuthorAugust 2023 - Week 2, Day 2

Today's prompt is to share my writing wish list.

  • Switch my writing tech over to Mac - I've resisted switching to Mac products as long as possible because they are so much more expensive. However, I think they'd help me with productivity far more than Windows. Besides...I spend most of my time avoiding as many Windows-pushed products as possible. Absolutely. Despise. Windows.
  • Storyist for Mac - Reading the blurb about the product was interesting. I think it could possibly take the place of two programs I use currently. More on that if it ever comes to fruition.
  • Better focus - I'm seriously considering herbal supplements to help with my focus. I think it gets worse as time progresses.
  • A better, more organized work space - Don't get me wrong! My work space is in my favorite room of the house. (It's been my favorite room in the house as long as I can remember, since I grew up in this house.) It gets all the morning light and cool breezes...when we have those. I just need to organize it better.
What about you? What things are on your creator's wish list? Whether you write, compose, craft, or work with other media, I'd love to hear what things you think would enhance (or have enhanced) your work experience. Let me know in the comments below!

OK, so I promised at the beginning of this post I'd share a verse and a song with you.

I'll share the song first. I will be honest and say that when Shane & Shane first started putting out music, I turned my nose up at it. It wasn't at all the sort of melodic feast for the ears I was looking for at the time. They've since put out so many good things which I've missed because of that first impression. I love their version of this song, but I don't know whether they wrote it or not.

And the verse I thought of while sharing our atmospheric dilemma is Hebrews 12:1. I use Logos Bible Software these days when I need to do an in-depth Bible study. I'm not being paid to tell you that. I get no money for doing so. I'm just sharing something I find useful because I can. The photo is linked to their site, as well.

I hope you all have a blessed and productive day. Did you find today's post interesting, helpful, useful, encouraging, or something else? Let me know in the comments below. I'd love to hear about it.

Tomorrow, I'll have two book reviews to share with you, as well as a fresh word prompt. I'll also share another piece of the #abouttheauthoraugust writer's challenge. I hope you'll visit again and bring your creative friends with you.

Until next time,
Turn the page...
