Book Notes: November 8, 2023 - Nonfiction and Fiction Mix 1

Welcome to the scenic route! I'm happy to share a couple more nonfiction books I've read with you. I know I'm not the most intensive reviewer. I hope my findings encourage you to check them out, at least. After the reviews, you'll find today's three word prompt. Let's go!

Book Review: Mothers & Daughters - Growing Into Wise Women Together by Nancy Wilson

Mothers & Daughters Growing Into Wise Women TogetherMothers & Daughters Growing Into Wise Women Together by Nancy Wilson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! This audio book was amazingly helpful and equally convicting. It had me thinking back over the time I've raised my own girls. There were so many things I could have, and should have, done differently. But God is gracious and merciful, and His plan is better than anything I could've come up with. I know there's a reason we're on the path we're on and traveled the way we did. This book also gives me hope that many more girls will grow up equally confident in their faith and purpose, fully convinced of the fact that their parents love and support them in the proper ways. I'm encouraged to do my best as a grandmother in the days to come. Thanks you, Nancy Wilson, for sharing such wonderful insights.
If you are a Christian mother raising daughters of any age, I /highly/ recommend this material to you.

Book Review: Mail Order Bride Mommy (Montana Mail Order Brides #1) by Linda Ford

Mail-Order Bride Mommy (Montana Mail-Order Brides, #1)Mail-Order Bride Mommy by Linda Ford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An Excellent Story

It's been a while since I've had the joy of reading one of Linda Ford's books. This one held true to previous experience. Her characters are so full of life and relatable. She makes it easy to dive into both the setting and the story. And she has a lovely way of weaving strong faith into her characters' lives. This story tugged at my heartstrings at times, then had me cheering later on. I can't wait to read more of the series. I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys clean, historical, inspirational romance.

Just Keep Writing: Wednesday Whimsy

If this is your first time participating in this kind of writing exercise, you're in for a treat. If you've done this with me before, just keep scrolling for the prompt.

Rules:

  1. You can use any/all of the words and/or the photo in the prompt below to create a unique written work. Fiction or nonfiction, poetry or prose, even lyrics are acceptable.
  2. Please keep the material you write clean (i.e. nothing R-rated or worse) if you wish to share the link to your work here, as well as if you link back to my site. I strive to keep my site free of such things. My readers know and expect this. I respect your right to write whatever you feel you need to write. And you're free to use my prompts. But if your material is graphic, I'd rather not view it, and most of my readers will not wish to.
  3. Have fun! This type of exercise is perfect for growing in the writing craft, or for helping through a rough patch in your current WIP. If you're looking to push your author limits and you normally write in nonfiction prose, try a whimsical collection of lyrics. If you normally write poems about real life events, try your hand at a fanfic. Give yourself some room to explore.

Don't forget to leave a link to your creation (unless you're writing graphic material) so my readers and I can check out your work. I'd appreciate a link back to this post to help me reach more readers, but it's not required.

OK. Confession time. I laughed at this list. It wasn't so much a laugh full of humor, as it was a laugh full of 'Oh, let me at 'em.' XD Y'all have fun!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you found something new to add to your TBR list. Or maybe the word prompt inspired you to create something awesome. Why not let me know what you think in the comment section?

Tomorrow, I'll have a new word prompt to share with you. Won't you visit again? Please bring a few more creative friends with you.

Until next time,
