Big Changes Coming
Pile of books and a journal with fountain pen
Author Journey
Today I got an email from my printer stating they’ll be charging fees for new accounts, as well as for accounts that don’t make a certain amount of royalties each year. I’m not sure why they think they need to implement that right now when it’s hard to encourage people to buy books while they’re having trouble keeping their vehicles on the road so they can make the money to purchase said books.
Whatever their reasoning, I can’t have another fee added to the ones I’m barely managing right now. So I’m making changes. Please bear with me as I move my work over to a new printer sooner than I’d thought. Know that this move means better opportunities for both my readers and me. With this move, I’ll have the option of offering brick and mortar bookstores my books at a wholesale price. I can get my books on an actual bookshelf in a store near you (hopefully)!
Another thing I just can’t keep up with is social media. I’m keeping my accounts open. But it’ll be more for me to keep up with what other indies are putting out, than for me to publish anything about my weekly writing progress. This is probably going to mean less exposure, but on the bright side, when I do have something to share, I’ll have the option to do so. If you want more regular updates, you’ll have to subscribe to the blog.

More Author Journey Stuff
I’ve been doing such a little bit of writing lately. Unfortunately, nothing running through my head right now matches up with the current series I’m trying to publish. I have a sort of urban fantasy/altiverse futuristic type story in the works. It’s meant to be short, but we’ll see where it goes. And I thought I’d try my hand at a short, sweet, more contemporary romance. That one is only in the beginning stages, but it might be fun, too.
However, I know you’re all waiting for me to get with the program and finish what I started years ago. So that’s what I’m going to get focused on in the coming weeks. Surge is almost ready… so ready I can almost taste it. I’ll be starting there as soon as I get my two currently published books moved over to the new printer.
Once Surge is out, I’ll work on the next short story which introduces a few characters in Over Land & Under Stone (book 3, planned to release next year) and gives a little backstory on a character from Surge.
Another thing I’m hoping to get into the habit of is writing more content for this website. I think I’ll make that section password protected for subscribers only. I’ll keep you all posted and send out a message to current and new subscribers when it’s ready. These will be simple stories based on prompts I pull from the web. I’m starting tomorrow.
I may also post blog articles on other days of the week, rather than only Friday, (like this one) but it will happen when I have something to share. I’m not going to just pull stuff from thin air. That’s a headache for me and you deserve better content from me than trite nothings.

Writer’s Life
The current happenings have been many and overwhelming. I’ll make a list in the hope I’ll be more succinct. …It’s probably a vain hope…
Our oldest daughter got married. The engagement was announced unofficially in December of last year with a projected wedding date of December of this year. Ah, no. She was married on Good Friday. Everything went well, but the financial repercussions are still TBD… This also means I’m adding a few things to my sewing list.
All through the past five or six years, we’ve been working with far too many changes for my autistic brain to handle well. Death of several family members, unexpected necessary travel, several upheavals within our own household, and juggling extra chores from time to time to help out my parents have all taken a toll on my writing. And my grandmother’s health is also in slow decline.
Our son, who is our oldest child, and his wife are expecting their first baby after ten years of pain, anguish, and struggle. This is probably the happiest form of upheaval. It means I add quite a few more things to my sewing list.
I know there are only three points, but I’m sure you can tell from each one how complex they are. My husband has been one of my biggest supporters and is working with me to see how we can put together a schedule that meets my needs.

Conclusion
And I thank you! I’m blessed to have you reading my blog and encouraging me along my writing journey. The scenic path might take longer, but the journey has considerably more points of interest along the way.
Until next time…
Keep turning pages.
