Open Mic & Sale Time!
Welcome back to the scenic route! Our country will be celebrating a milestone birthday soon. I don’t know what y’all will be doing, but I’ll likely be taking it easy with family, food, books, and an AC.
You might be thinking it’d be great to read some of those items on your TBR. Well, guess what! It’s time once again for another awesome chance to grab them, along with my books, on sale. Check it out!
I’m excited to announce that my books, Ripples & The Tale of Outh’n Durr, will be discounted at Smashwords during their 18th Annual Summer/Winter Sale! The sale, which lasts the entire month of July, is a great time to get my book, along with books from other talented indie authors, at bargain prices. It’s important to note that this sale is only happening at Smashwords and is only for ebooks. My books in hard copy formats, as well as ebooks purchased on other platforms will remain at the regular price.
You can find the sale here *starting on July 1*, so save the link:

If you want to go straight to my Smashwords author page before checking out tons of other possibly great reads, then here’s the link to get there. Just don’t forget to check out the other possibilities, too!

Please share this post or the link with your family and friends for the love of books! I’ll put up a post on the ‘Event’ page so the sale links don’t get lost in your feed.
Thank you for your help and support! That means more than you know.
Author Journey
You’re probably wondering why there hasn’t been a writing update lately. The truth is, it’s been really hard to keep doing things I feel should have already marked off my list.
This week, however, I sat down and located the nine discrepancies my mother discovered when she read Ripples by herself. All nine have been corrected and the manuscript is ready to upload to the new publisher once the covers are formatted correctly. The next step is getting those covers ready.
Interesting note! Footnotes do NOT transfer correctly when Scrivener compiles your manuscript. Hopefully that tidbit of info is helpful to someone. I had to go into the manscript (in the word doc) and click on the footnote to get the relevant text to show up. (I use LibreOffice and Open Office. One of them uses .odt format which could be the issue.) What I’m worried about now is whether they’ll behave like good little footnotes tucked at the bottom of a page, or if they’ll look like Tasmanian devils wreaking havoc in the middle of a random paragraph.
And so begins the long walk to the proofing process…
Happening tomorrow!
Our local library is once again hosting an open mic event. They do this every month unless something unexpected prevents it. But even in the messiness of renovations, they’ve decided to keep hosting it.
It’s a great opportunity for local authors, poets, and singer/songwriters to share their work with the community. And I’ve been blessed to join in with reading my books. I also sing from time to time.
This isn’t really an event for younger children, though middle schoolers might enjoy parts of it. I will say there are sometimes subjects covered which they may not grasp and not all the readings are about happy things. Most of our regulars seem to enjoy the variety. If you’re in the area on June 20th at 2 pm, why don’t you join us at the Eunice Public Library? We’re meeting across the street from the main library building while it’s in renovation stage. The windows are clearly labeled with ‘Eunice Public Library Satellite Location.’
On a slightly different note, it’s super nice when the librarians spot you passing by on the street and wave you in to chat for a minute. It’s even more encouraging when the children’s librarian says she’s been reading your flash fiction stories and that they’re good.
On that note, I better get back to it. I’ll probably be posting more vocabulary help next Friday. Won’t you join me again, then?
Until next time…
Keep turning pages.
